I just was just thinking about the history of Charlton Athletic FC in the other football league. Some people say that their achievement over the last few years hasnt been that good. So the coach quit and is now coaching a team that is in a relegation scrap against his former team. Now how good is this coach then ??? I think that he is very good but how can I prove that. One has to look at the record that he left with his former club. Lets see now where are such statistics ???
This lead me to thinking, do we have a table of the best clubs in MSWL league one seperatly, and league two and three as well ???
Now thats the idea, how good a manager am I, what is my overall record in the top division ??? My money is on 8th place overall.

I like that idea, especially if it ranks managers like KM higher for taking their team from Div 3 to contending for Div 1 title.

|Oli -Re Charlton , the manager did a great job with them , NO bad seasons. He felt he could do NO more for the team and resigned and LEFT management.
After 6 months out of the game he was persuaded back to take on a Challenge and get West Ham out of trouble (relegation), possibly he will, good luck to him.
AS for your Idea ,sounds good we just need a mug to step forward and do all the research -Oh well done Steve, thanks for sticking your hand up. :-)

Revisiting Oli's lists, I noticed that there are some apparent gaps. For example, KIN has played two full in Div 1 prior to this year, but only season 15 is counted, not 14 (22 games played shown when it's actually 44). I was playing around with a master chart myself and finished it up last night. These numbers are compiled through the end of season 15 and DO NOT include season 15 AP Cup matches.
DISCLAIMER: This may not be totally accurate, and is taken solely off the MSWL history pages for past season finishes. In the cases of managers who took over teams part-way through a season, I know it's not accurate because I have no way of knowing after what match a manager officially left and a new one moved in. In those cases, I've attributed all stats to the first manager since the 2nd guy usually is penalized/rewarded for the efforts of the first coach and their team management anyway.
For posting purposes since I don't know how to do all those cool tables like Oli did (Rob P. sent me an example once, which I promptly lost so I'm still ignorant) I've listed the Top Ten All-Time in Wins, Winning Percentage, and then all current managers below each.

Just curious; does my Div 2 wins include BOP or just ZAR?
Kevin (Kirksville) - Wednesday 01-24-07 1:53
Both, Tim. All listings are by manager with no regard to number of different teams represented, since that was what Oli's question was about. You were dominating in several percentage categories with BOP when I started tabulating... then along came ZAR and you settled down in a hurry.

The minus of starting at the bottom again is that it has hampered by coach stats somewhat. On the other hand, seems fair seeing as I left in the first place. :-)
